Dave,

First of all I am a big fan of your radio pages. Recently I finished a crystal radio project I call the Bamboo Mystery. Jon Bowers told me you might be willing to post some pics on your visitors page, and that he might ask you to post them on his page.

I used his binding posts and thumb nuts. This project stated when I found a piece of bamboo in my shed that I cut down in the woods in Florida in the 70's. it made a very nice coil form. after that I decided to carry the theme on throughout. I purchaced some bamboo cutting boards and used them for the base and front panel. The capacitor is an old Ormond unit I purchased on ebay from a guy in England . I hope you like it. I have been making crystal radios since the early 60's, and never get tired of them. At present as you can see I am using a 1n34 but am in the process of making a perikon style detector using bamboo , peacock ore and red zinc oxide. if you are willing to post , I have lots more.

Should work up my own website but I know very little about it

Thanks

Doug

Great looking set, Doug. Thanks for showing it to us. Examples of mystery sets with circuit diagrams are on my #3 page as well as my #49 set page.

Dave,

just a couple of pics of the completed bamboo Perikon style detector. It works very well, and I think it completes the bamboo mystery set. minerals are peacock ore in the bottom and zincite in the top. again more of Jon's binding posts.
