Sprint Contest Entry

I wasn't sure if I was going to have this radio ready in time for the contest. I was late in ordering the toroids, then there was a delivery carrier delay in getting them to me. I had only one day to get the coils made, installed and the radio aligned. Fortunately I had the time to finish it.
You can get the details of my #76 radio by visiting the page.
I did well in the first day of the contest, considering the radio design and the time available to devote to the contest. This set tunes beautifully! One knob. No ATU, spacing the two sections of a DX crystal set either. Also, the scoring is simpler as the number of stations is lower with a non-dx radio. (This radio does hear far away, but it was not designed as a dx radio.)
I ended up with 73 stations logged. This is well above the goal that I set for myself in the beginning. There were some nice surprises in the form of some new stations heard. That is always a treat. The radio worked very well, even with it's lower sensitivity. The selectivity made up for this. Under 1500 kHz the selectivity was great and above somewhat moderate.
My thanks to Jack, KE4ID for sponsoring this contest at his crystalradio.us website. The contests provide me with a great measuring stick for checking my radios (and bragging about them on my website).
